Ungewöhlicher BMW 315/1 auf Prewarcar

Auf Prewarcar wird gerade ein ziemlich ungewöhnlicher BMW 315 angeboten. Der Zustand ist ziemlich schlecht….aber…die Karosserie ist mehr als ungewöhnlich.

Der Verkäufer selber scheint sich auch nicht klar zu sein und vermutet das es ein Graber Umbau aus der 50ern ist.

 

Von Außen erinnert er mich ein bisschen an Borgward, Mercedes oder einem Nash (das Auto scheint in Canada zu stehen) . Die Bilder der Armaturen aber scheinen mir Mercedes like zu sein.

Sold new in Berlin on October 31st 1934 
BMW has verified that the engine and VIN are light weight 315/1 as is the chassis. Documentation to be included. 
There are several original rally/tour badges still affixed to the vehicle. Including one special Badge that reads “Karl Michels”. 
I have been working on putting together some of the vehicles provenance (the following is some of what I have researched and still evolving)
In 1936 Karl Michels started Karl Michels GMBH (a trucking/transport company still in existence today)
1950 Karl Michels handed control of the company to his son in-law Engelbert Kloft.
1951 with his new found financial freedom Engelbert Kloft built his spectacular car.
The racing scene of post-war Germany was one of few options, and big dreams.
Small manufacturers were the mainstay before the return of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Porsche. Manufacturers like AFM, Veritas and Reif.  But there were others that built their own cars, their own ’self-built‘ German translated “Eigenbaus” machines.
In this case with a light weight BMW 315/1 engine, chassis, German parts and ingenuity.
In 1961 the car was shipped to the U.S. and plated in NY where it is was driven for a few years before being put into storage. It remained hidden away for almost 50 years before being rescued. 

 

Evtl. kann hier jemand behilflich sein und weitere Aufklärung an den Verkäufer/Käufer geben. Schön wäre es tatsächlich wenn das Auto gerettet werden könnte denn die Karosserie ist schon recht interessant (der Preis übrigens liegt bei 100.000 $).
