Michael
Please find attached a copy of the article My Uncle Norman Routledge was a Riley and Alvis enthusiast/racer through the 30s and 40s. He wrote to Autocar describing the modification he made to his Brooklands Riley. I only met him once in the 1970s when I was a boy and he took me for a spin in a Lancia Fulvia Zagato at some speed down the lanes.
I have tracked down an image of his actual car from the Internet and attach a picture of it for you. I wonder if it still has the Amal’s on it?
I hope you enjoy the article let me know if you cant read it and for give my forwardness of approach but the images of your car came up when I was researching Riley specials my enthusiasm for which was sparked by this very article. I am a keen collector of classic cars but have never owned a pre-war car. Well not yet!
Regards
Nick
